J-Tech Laser was heavily involved in many aspects of a major Shell Refinery Turnaround. Before this fractionator was installed, Laser Scanning was used to provide clash detection by using a virtual field fit up. The vessel was scanned in the fabrication shop and the opening was scanned were it was to be placed. The clash detection report was used to remove any clashes prior to installation. As well, a shimming plan was developed so the fractionator would be plumbed when installed. The lift went perfectly, saving hundreds of costly manhours and thousands of dollars in savings.
